PPTC (GL) Transfer Test date November 2021
The PPTC have decided that the Transfer Test will be held on
Saturday 13th November 2021.
The Post Primary Transfer Consortium (PPTC) who organise the GL Transfer Test has announced that their Transfer Test will be held on Saturday, November 13th 2021 for Primary 7 pupils.
The results in the PPTC GL test are used by many grammar schools as a criteria when selecting pupils to enter their school in Year 8.
As in previous years the tests will be based on English and Mathematics.
The PPTC (Post Primary Transfer Consortium) had considered using verbal and non-verbal reasoning tests in an attempt to help pupils who had missed so much school time in 2020. There had also been requests to hold the tests in the pupils’ own primary schools but, again as in previous years, the Transfer Test will be held in PPTC test centres - usually a grammar school that is in the consortium.
PPTC said the English and the Mathematics papers will be “significantly modified to take account of the disruption to formal education experienced by pupils." They also said that there was a desire of parents and teachers that the assessment be held in November rather than later in the school year.
PPTC centres will have all appropriate Covid safeguards in place with PPTC trying to ensure that pupils from the same primary school will sit the Transfer Test in the same PPTC centre.
Full specification for both English and maths content should be be available in the week beginning May 17th 2021.
It is expected that the content for both subjects will be reduced to try and take account of the amount of teaching that pupils missed in the school years 2019/2020 and 2020/2021.
The following nine schools will not be using the PPTC (GL) Transfer Test for the selection of pupils entering year 8 in September 2022.
PPTC run the transfer tests predominately for Catholic grammar schools and the following grammar schools will not be using the Transfer Test to select pupils to join their year 8 in September 2022.
