The AQE organisation who organise the AQE version of the Transfer Test has announced that their Transfer Test will be held on the above dates for Primary 7 pupils.

The results in the AQE test are used by many grammar schools as a criteria when selecting pupils to enter their school in Year 8.

As in previous years the tests will be based on English and Mathematics and AQE seems to have no intention to use Verbal or Non-Verbal reasoning tests as was considered by PPTC organisers of the Transfer Test.

AQE Ltd recognises that primary schools teach topics in a different order so that to remove topics from the test papers could be unfair to some children.

AQE have taken into consideration the effect of Covid-19 on the schooling for P6 pupils in the last year and AQE, for the 21/22 assessments, will be allowing an extra 10 minutes to complete each paper. Question type and format will be the same as previous years.

They say that they will ensure that the English passages they use are written in language which is accessible and familiar to the children. They intend to apply the same principle to the maths questions.

Their main priority is to produce Transfer Tests which allow the children to show what they know, understand and can do.

The AQE assessment has three papers based on the premise that anybody can have an "off day" and results will be based
on the two best papers.

Full specification for both English and maths content should be be available shortly.
