What are the new Transfer Test dates?

Northern Ireland has, for many years held its Transfer Test in the Autumn term of a pupil's year 7.

In the school year 2020-2021 these Transfer Tests have been moved to January 2021.

The Transfer Tests in Northern Ireland have been put back to January 2021 from the autumn term of 2020.

This has taken place following a court case at the high court on Wednesday 2nd September 2020.

Following the court case the Association for Quality Education (AQE) said its exams would take place on

January 9th 2021,

January 16th 2021

and January 23rd 2021.

Applications to enter have to be received by October 9th 2020.

Results will be posted on March 6th 2021.

The AQE also said that each test will be an additional 10 minutes long. This was to ensure that children had "sufficient time to finish the paper".

The other Transfer Test body - The Post-Primary Transfer Consortium (PPTC) confirmed that its test would take place on

Saturday January 30th 2021.

Their supplementary test, for children who missed the first exam date for whatever reason, will be held on

Saturday February 6th 2021.

Results will be posted to parents on Friday March 5th 2021.

This revised date should provide pupils with approximately eight weeks preparation time before they sit their test.
