Ballyclare High School is a long-established school which opened in the 1890s in the small village of Doagh close to Ballyclare. The original school was a few miles south-west of the town of Ballyclare. The school has had a couple of moves and in 1904 it moved into the town of Ballyclare itself, while in 1930, the school moved to its current premises on the Rashee Road in the town. Ballyclare High School is a co-educational and non-denominational grammar school. From its early beginnings the school now has approximately 1,200 pupils who are taught by around 80 teachers.
Ballyclare High School uses results from the AQE (CEA) Transfer Test as a criteria for entry into year 8.
