Royal School Dungannon

Royal School Dungannon - a brief overview.

Royal School, Dungannon is one of the “Royal” schools founded by James 1st The school began in 1614 and moved to its current site in 1789 in the town of Dungannon in County Tyrone. Originally a school for boys but following an amalgamation with Dungannon High School for Girls in 1986 the Royal School now accepts girls. The school had a rebuild from 1999-2003 and now has school facilities fit for the 21st Century. The school is often heavily over-subscribed especially for its boarding department with places often booked a year in advance. Most pupils enter year 8 after having sat the AQE Transfer Test, which is also known as the Common Entrance Assessment (CEA), in Primary 7.

Royal School, Dungannon uses the new SEAG Single Entrance Transfer Test results as part of its intake criteria into year 8.
