Dominican College, Belfast

Dominican College, Belfast a brief overview.

Dominican College Belfast is a very large Catholic Girls grammar that was established in 1930. It had a huge rebuilding project in 2005. The school is situated in the Fortwilliam area of North Belfast. In the early 20th and late 19th Century this area of Belfast was a very exclusive area. The Dominican Sisters understood that in the 1920’s there were very few girls’ schools in Belfast and so the order opened the school in 1930 with around 30 pupils. Today the school has closer to 1100 pupils.

Dominican College use the new SEAG Single Entrance Transfer Test results as part of its intake criteria into year 8.
