Banbridge Academy

Banbridge Academy a brief overview.

Today Banbridge Academy has an enrolment of around 1300 pupils and around 90 teachers. In 2008 the school was in the Top 100 Schools in the United Kingdom for

A-Level results in a list compiled by The Times. Founded in 1786 the school can trace its roots to the building now known as Dunbar Nursery adjacent to the current site of Banbridge Leisure Centre. The school transferred to its present home, Edenderry House on the Lurgan Road, in 1950. A building project which began in 1989 provided a new building, yet retained much of the original frontage; interiors and façade which are all listed.

Banbridge Academy uses the new SEAG Single Entrance Transfer Test results as part of its intake criteria into year 8.
