Sullivan Upper School was founded in 1877 and moved to extensive grounds on the edge of the town of Holywood, County Down in 1939. Holywood is just a short distance from Belfast. The school has a fee-paying prep department which was formerly known as Sullivan Lower School. The “lower school” was founded in 1862 by Robert Sullivan and it is from him that the school takes its name. Sullivan Upper School has approximately 1000 pupils and is a co-educational school. With a reputation for very good academic results the school is often very heavily over-subscribed for entry into year 8. 


Sullivan Upper School uses the Common Entrance Assessments (CEA Tests) which is also known as the AQE Transfer Test.
