Strathearn School

Strathearn School - a brief overview.

Strathearn School opened in 1929 with 63 pupils and Miss Miskelly as the first headmistress. Initially the school accepted boys and girls form the age of 4 years. The boys stayed until they were 8 years old when most transferred to Cabin Hill (now known as Campbell Junior School) which is the preparatory Department of Campbell College.

The girls stayed until they were 14 and then moved to Victoria College. The school has a fee-paying preparatory department known as Penrhyn with approximately 140 pupils. The “prep” school is very close to the main grammar school. In 2014 the school received a completely new school building. The school sits on 17 acres of prime land in East Belfast.

Strathearn School uses the new SEAG Single Entrance Transfer Test results as part of its intake criteria into year 8.
