St Patrick’s Academy came into being as a co-educational school in 2003 when a boys’ school and a girls’ school merged to form the new academy. The two schools had existed on the same site for many years but as two separate institutions. The history of the school goes back to the 1890’s when the Sisters of Mercy first opened a school in the area.
The school is based in Dungannon where demand for grammar school places has increased dramatically over the years. St Patrick’s Academy, a Catholic grammar school, now has almost 2000 pupils accommodated in a new building fit for the 21st Century. St Patrick’s Academy accepts almost 200 pupils into year 8 and demand for places is always high.
Criteria used by St Patrick’s Academy includes the use of the GL Assessment (PPTC) Transfer Test results.
