St. Mary's Grammar School, Magherafelt

St. Mary's Grammar School, Magherafelt - a brief overview.

St Mary's Grammar School is in the town of Magherafelt. Sisters of the Holy Family of Bordeaux founded the grammar school in 1927 with an enrolment of just 10 girls. Today that number has grown to over 1100 boys and girls with the first boys being enrolled in 1978. Because of its position in Magherafelt the school serves the three counties of Londonderry, Antrim and Tyrone. As the school population grew it required more and larger facilities and today it has facilities to meet the needs of its pupils in the 21st Century. The school is large co-ed Catholic Grammar school and accepts 157 pupils into year 8 using a variety of criteria including pupil results in the GL Assessment (PPTC) Transfer Test.

St Mary's Grammar School uses the new SEAG Single Entrance Transfer Test results as part of its intake criteria into year 8.
