Schools' Transfer Test
Grammar Schools' Transfer Test Intake Information
The Transfer Test is the exam used by grammar schools in Northern Ireland as part of their selection process to select pupils for entry into year 8 (first form).
There are two versions of the Northern Ireland Transfer Test and most schools only accept the result from one version of the Transfer Test but a small number of schools will accept the result from either test.
The Transfer Test result will be one of the criteria that each school uses and there will be other criteria used. You should make yourself very familiar with all the criteria used by the school(s) you want your child to attend in year 8.
From this page you can visit a page dedicated to each grammar school in Northern Ireland which shows the Highest Score/Grade and Lowest Score/Grade used by that school in 2018. You will also find other information about the school and a link to the school website.
Please note that a grammar school’s intake details can vary from year to year. Many schools are heavily over-subscribed and so higher scores will be required to get a place in these schools - this is especially true in the greater Belfast area.
