Lagan College

Lagan College

Lagan College - a brief overview.

Lagan College was formed in 1981 and was the first integrated school in Northern Ireland. It contains students of mainly Roman Catholic and Protestant faiths, but students from other faiths also attend the school. On its first day the school had 28 pupils and 7 staff members. The college accepts pupils with a wide range of academic ability but it also selects a number of pupils based on their Transfer Test results – the school uses both the AQE and/or the GL Transfer Tests results. Following many years on split sites or temporary sites the school now has a permanent new building on the Manse Road (BT8) on the outskirts of Belfast. From its early beginnings Lagan College is now often one of the most oversubscribed schools in Northern Ireland.

Lagan College uses the new SEAG Single Entrance Transfer Test results as part of its intake criteria into year 8.
