Dominican College, Portstewart is in the town of Portstewart. It occupies the most imposing site and the school is perched on top of a cliff in an old castle. The College has stunning views over the Northern Ireland coastline and also over the Donegal Hills in the Republic of Ireland. The College was founded in 1917 by the Dominican Sisters as at that time there was no secondary educational provision in Portstewart. The College continues to grow from its opening numbers of 21 pupils in 1917 to 650 pupils today. Dominican College has very good academic results and accepts both boys and girls into its school. The College is often over-subscribed for year 8 places.
The College uses the GL (PPTC) version of the transfer test as part of its selection process for entry into year 8.
