Abbey Christian Brothers' Grammar - GL Intake scores & brief overview
Abbey Christian Brothers’ Grammar School is a voluntary grammar school situated in Newry, County Down. The school accepts boys from 11-18 years of age. The Christian Brothers first came to Newry in 1851 and the school gets its name from a Cistercian Abbey built on the same site in 1144. The school has had several sites around Newry including Chapel Hill, The Mall and Courtenay Hill. In 2010 the Grammar School moved to its current site, which was a new building, to the north of Newry. The new build in 2010 has provided Abbey Christian Brothers’ Grammar School with a building fit for the 21st Century.
Abbey Christian Brothers' Grammar school uses the GL Transfer Test results as part of its intake criteria into year 8.
